100% Security
Security,
defined as the state of being free from danger is the aspect of life that
everyone wants to insure on their lives, properties, assets and so on. Due to
this, people have developed ways or means of ensuring security at all cost. New
and intensified ideas sprang up over the years, new technologies being built,
mechanisms set in place, all to derive a sense or feeling of security.
Stephen
Hawking said: “I think computer viruses should count as life. I think it says
something about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far
is purely destructive. We’ve created life in our own image.” This
statement speaks rather clear of the uncertainty of having security to a valid
100%.
Another
quote from Kevin Mitnick: “Companies spend millions of dollars on
firewalls, encryption and secure access devices, and it’s money wasted, because
none of these measures address the weakest link in the security chain.”
How can we reform this! Are we saying this is impossible to have 100% security?
Check this
out from Bruce Schenier: “If you think technology can solve your
security problems, then you don’t understand the problems and you don’t
understand the technology.” About this, scholars have traveled
world-wide even into the space to research on mediums and means for deploying
this 8-Lettered Word (SECURITY) to the fullest 100% without a leak. Every
single one of them with his or her own derivatives and understanding but where
do we stand?
“Hoaxes use
weaknesses in human behavior to ensure they are replicated and
distributed. In other words, hoaxes prey on the Human Operating System.” Says Steward
Kirkpartick! Are we saying that nothing is secured?
“The only
truly secure system is one that is powered off, cast in a block of concrete and
sealed in a lead-lined room with armed guards.” Says Gene Spafford! Even at that
what if disasters?
The quotes
above were extracted from the Top 10 ICT Quotes from professionals on security
but the question still rings, is there anything like a hundred percent (100%)
security? The answer is Yes!
